Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Tracey handles information when you use the drawing, camera tracing, image discovery and subscription features.
Effective: 24 October 2026 · Last updated: 24 October 2026
1. What Tracey processes
Your camera, photos and drawings
When you choose a photo or use the camera, Tracey processes that media on your device to display or create a tracing guide. User-provided media is not added to Tracey’s public image library. Finished drawings and app preferences are stored on your device unless you choose to share them using an Apple sharing feature.
Image discovery
When you search the public-domain library, your search words and ordinary connection information are processed long enough to return results and protect the service from abuse. Requests may be sent to Smithsonian Open Access and Wikimedia Commons. Tracey’s application-level error logging is designed not to record search words, images, account tokens or full IP addresses.
Purchases
Apple processes payment information. RevenueCat processes purchase status, product identifiers, an app-user identifier and limited device/app information to verify access and restore purchases. Tracey does not receive your full card number or Apple Account password.
Support
If you contact us, we process your email address, message and any information you voluntarily include so we can answer and keep a reasonable record of the request.
2. Why we process information
- To provide features you request, including tracing, saving, search and sharing.
- To perform our contract with paying users and verify Tracey Pro access.
- To protect the app and API against errors, fraud and excessive automated use.
- To respond to support and legal requests and comply with applicable law.
Where UK or EU data-protection law applies, these purposes rely on performing a contract, our legitimate interests in providing and securing Tracey, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where the law requires it.
3. Services that help provide Tracey
- Apple: app distribution, permissions, purchases and optional system sharing.
- RevenueCat: subscription and entitlement management.
- Cloudflare: website and API delivery, security and rate limiting for image discovery.
- Smithsonian Open Access and Wikimedia Commons: public-domain/CC0 search results and source information.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. We require service providers acting for us to protect information appropriately. International processing may occur; where required, we use a recognized transfer mechanism.
4. What Tracey does not do
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
- We do not upload your personal photos into the public library.
- The current version does not create a Tracey account or cloud-save your artwork.
5. Retention and deletion
Drawings and preferences stored by Tracey remain on your device until you delete them, clear the app’s storage or remove the app. Search requests are processed to answer the request and are not intentionally retained by Tracey as a search history. Limited security or error events may be retained by infrastructure providers according to the production configuration. Support messages are kept only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, meet legal obligations and resolve disputes.
You can remove locally stored work from My Studio or by deleting the app. Because the current version has no Tracey account, there is no cloud account to delete. For support records or another privacy request, see Privacy choices.
6. Your regional privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia and certain US states, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a copy of eligible personal information, and to object to or complain about certain processing. We will verify and answer valid requests as required by applicable law. Tracey does not discriminate against users for exercising privacy rights.
UK users may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. German/EU users may complain to the competent data-protection authority. Australian users may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. US residents may contact their state regulator where applicable.
7. Children
Tracey is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. Users who have not reached the age of legal majority should use Tracey only with a parent or guardian’s review and permission. Where local law requires parental authorization for consent-based processing, including for users under 16 in Germany, the parent or guardian must provide that authorization. We do not knowingly use advertising profiles or sell children’s personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information contrary to this policy, contact us.
8. Security and changes
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including restricted API destinations, response limits, timeouts, rate limiting and minimal application logging. No system is completely secure. We may update this policy as Tracey changes; the current version and effective date will remain available here.
